Questions-ohh la la
So, we got into class today, and Sir told us that there was a new task on the school site. So I went to check that out, and it was on handheld computing. On the word page, there are sites to view and then a list of 5 questions to answer. So yeah.Sir is still talking now, and he just said something bout 5 minutes ago about a new web search site thing (like wikipedia i think) that got released last night by Google. So with that, i am going to do the questions now (as posted below) and then work on the assignment more. But yeah. Hopefully I can get the questions done and have time to work on the assignment as well, as last time doing the CPU questions took me all lesson. Anyways to the questions....1.What are MID and UMPC devices? How do they differ. Which one would suit your needs?MID stands for 'mobile Internet device', and UMPC stands for 'ultra-mobile personal computing'. the difference between the devices is that a MID device is a business class device used for enterprise uses; it runs on a heavy OS like vista; and it is optimised for office-use applications. Although the UMPC device is used for consumer-class lifestyle device; runs a lightweight OS with a quick start up; its optimised for small things like media playback and web surfing. The one that i think will best suit my needs is the UMPC device as it isn't as complicated as the MID device and it it used for Media player ans surfing the net. 2.Compare the ASUS EeePc 901 and the ASUS Eee Pc surf (use the check boxes and the “compare checked products” feature in the second link). What are the key benefits of the new 901 model? The key benefits of the ASUS EeePc 901 is that it has a 1gb RAM whereas the other computer only has a 512mb RAM. other benefits include those of- the CPU is faster; it has a bigger flash memory, screen size, resolution, battery capacity, and PPI. The only disadvantage is that it weighs more than the original. 3.Compare the Acer Aspire One and The ASUS EeePc 901 (note you can sort a column by clicking the column heading). Which has the greatest secondary storage capacity? Which has the best battery life? Which one is the lightest?Between the two computers, the one with the greatest storage capacity is the ASUS Eeepc 901 as it holds up to 1gb, whereas the Acer Aspire One's capacity is just 512mb. The computer with the best battery life is the ASUS as it is 49wh whereas the Acer is 26wh. The computer which weighs the least is the Acer as it is 950 grams whereas the ASUS is 1140 grams.4.If I was looking for a UMPC device with a screen size of 4 in or less, which would you recommend? Justify your choice.Throughout going through all the options on the site, i have been left with 5 good products when at first i had cut it down to around 15.In these 5, the have all got a screen size around 4 inches and their RAM are all 1gb. the resolution of the screens a better compared to the other products as they are 1024x600.All the products have a keyboard which makes them easier to use and more compatible with consumers, their battery capacity is also above the 20wh point. 5.View some of the videos at this link http://www.umpcportal.com/ .How would envisage students five years from now using one of these devices at school. Select any UMPC / MID device that you have researched that would meet a students needs, justify your choice.Honestly i think that in 5 years from now we will have completly new technology and there will be plenty more electronic devices which will be in use and for sale. although going on what we have now, i say that the new apple IPhone is what students could use as it has the Internet and other devices. although for those children lucky enough, good luck not getting distracted with the other things on the phone a.k.a games.
so yeah, there my questions answered.
